Beam-recoil transferred polarization in K+Y electroproduction in the nucleon resonance region with CLAS12

Abstract: Beam-recoil transferred polarizations for the exclusive electroproduction of K + Λ and K + Σ 0 final states from an unpolarized proton target have been measured using the CLAS12 spectrometer at Jefferson Laboratory. The measurements at beam energies of 6.535 GeV and 7.546 GeV span the range of four-momentum transfer Q 2 from 0.3 to 4.5 GeV 2 and invariant energy W from 1.6 to 2.4 GeV, while covering the full center-of-mass angular range of the K + . These new data extend the existing hyperon polarization data … Show more

“…Several different observables have been extracted for the first time in a wide energy range, which provides crucial new information for the different partialwave analyses [35]. Recently, first measurements of observables for similar final states using electroproduction and the CLAS12 detector have been published by the CLAS collaboration [24].…”

“…Q 2 versus W event distributions for these exclusive reaction channels measured with CLAS12 at a beam energy of ∼11 GeV are shown in Figure 10 (bottom). The first results from the CLAS12 N * program (at lower beam energies of 6.5/7.5 GeV) have recently been published on the beam-recoil hyperon transferred polarization in K + Y electroproduction [153]. The increase in the Q 2 -coverage for results on the electrocouplings from CLAS12 will enable exploration of the dressed-quark mass within the range of quark momenta where roughly 50% of hadron mass is expected to be generated (see Figure 10 (top)).…”
