Beam-domain hybrid time-switching and power-splitting SWIPT in full-duplex massive MIMO system

Abstract: In this paper, we consider the beam-domain hybrid time-switching (TS) and power-splitting (PS) simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) protocol design in full-duplex (FD) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where the FD base station (BS) simultaneously serves a set of downlink half-duplex (HD) users (cellular users) and a set of fixed uplink HD users (fixed sensor nodes) which are uniformly distributed in its coverage area. In order to reduce the computational complexity,… Show more

“…Furthermore, the power consumption of the BS as well as users need to be reduced. These issues have been addressed by the authors in previous studies 25,26 . Zhou et al 27 have discussed power controlled optimization for MIMO downlink systems by the joint optimization of communication and energy resource allocation strategy.…”

“…As a practical solution to improve the energy efficiency (EE) of battery-powered IoT network in 5G systems and hence extend the service lifetime of the IoT network, RF energy-harvesting (EH) technology has been widely studied [10][11][12]. In an actual simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) system [13], the base station (BS) or access point (AP) provides the receiver with concurrent information and energy supply.…”

“…Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) [10][11][12][13] means that the wireless transmitter provides the receiver with concurrent information and energy supply. The SWIPT receiver was first designed to collect the power of the received signal while decoding the information it contained simultaneously [14,15] and was proved impractical in [16].…”

“…The TS receiver alternates between EH and ID according to the TS ratio [18], as a result, the incoming RF signal was first sent to the energy harvester and then to the signal receiver. For the PS receiver, the incoming signal is split into two parts according to the PS ratio [11], one portion is sent to the energy harvester while the remaining portion is sent to the signal receiver.…”
