Bayesian Coalition Formation Game for Virtual 5G Core Network Functions

Abstract: The network function virtualization (NFV) enables the virtual network functions (VNFs) to run as software components upon a virtualization system hosted in a cloud. Recently, due to its high flexibility and elasticity in terms of network services and functions deploying, NFV has been considered as one of the key enabling techniques of the fifth-generation (5G) wireless systems. Moreover, the creation of the core network functions is the key to the implementation of 5G. Currently, there are extensive studies re… Show more

“…This approach however assumes that the cost of creating an instance of each VNF (which varies from player to player) for each player is common knowledge to all players. Authors Li et al [100] have addressed this drawback in their algorithm NM-FN, using a Bayesian Coalition formation game. Another application is user grouping.…”

“…Bairagi et al (2016) extended the concept further to allow for a cloud provider to participate in more than one coalition instead of being limited to a single one, to overcome the problem of resource under-utilization. Li et al (2019), cloud federation is used to support hosting of the fifth Generation (5G) of networks. The authors have made use of Bayesian Coalition Formation Game, to address the problem of insufficient amount of information that is needed by the coalition of cloud providers.…”

“…In [7], the placement of virtual network slice is addressed by deploying AMF, SMF, UPF and AUSF in 5G. In [16], based on Bayesian coalition formation game, the optimal coalition is formulated to deploy AMF, UPF and SMF collaboratively, the number of VNF instances to instantiate and the virtual resources allocated for each instance are optimized to maximize the profit of each cloud provider and guarantee the Quality of Service (QoS).…”
