Battery Protective Electric Vehicle Charging Management in Renewable Energy System

Abstract: The adoption of grid-connected electric vehicles (GEVs) brings a bright prospect for promoting renewable energy. An efficient vehicle-to-grid (V2G) scheduling scheme that can deal with renewable energy volatility and protect vehicle batteries from fast aging is indispensable to enable this benefit. This paper develops a novel V2G scheduling method for consuming local renewable energy in microgrids by using a mixed learning framework. It is the first attempt to integrate battery protective targets in GEVs charg… Show more

“…In this study, charging behaviors of 30 GEVs each with a 60 kWh battery pack, are simulated to provide peak-shaving service, and the peak-shaving reference value is set as 400 kW. The peak-shaving and battery anti-aging performance of the developed method (Case 4) is quantitively compared with conventional online scheduling method (Case 2) and off-line rain-flow anti-aging (ORA) method [53] (Case 3) in Fig. 7.…”

“…Even though the street WPT techniques would enhance the system's operational safety [74], a significant amount of research has been done [6,69,80] to investigate the EMF problems with human electromagnetic permissible levels. Exposure to magnetic and electric fields with a lower frequency is known to irritate the surface field effects, nervous system stimuli, and sometimes the formation of phosphines in the retina area [81].…”

“…This radiation can take the form of microwaves or lasers. This study focuses on the magnetically coupled WPT for any electric vehicle charging application and has made the subject of a significant amount of research [3][4][5][6][7][8]. In terms of its operational modes, a WPT can be of two categories: (1) static WPT, which involves charging the battery while the vehicle is parked, and (2) dynamic WPT, which involves the battery being charged while the vehicle is moving down a roadway that is enabled for WPT.…”

“…MART city management leverages advanced information and communication technologies (ICTs) to ensure sustainable, efficient urban operations that are central to quality services to citizens and support their normal activities [1,2]. These technologies make the effective coordination of multiple heterogeneous utility systems viable and promise greater efficiency and reliability [3,4]. For instance, Lei et al [5] design a planning scheme for charging infrastructures, which considers the coupling relationships between power and traffic systems to support smart cities.…”
