“…The sensorimotor cortex consists of several areas, including: the pre-motor cortex (FC1, FCZ, FC2) and motor cortex (C3, C1, CZ, C2, C4) (Szurhaj et al, 2003). Hence, these were the brain areas systematically explored.…”

“…All data were re-referenced off-line to a common average reference and a second automatic artefact rejection sweep was carried out, with exclusion parameters set at 775 mV. The frequencies taken into consideration and low beta (12)(13)(14)(15)(16)(17)(18)(19)(20) were recorded from the electrodes overlying the sensorimotor cortex pre-central gyrus (FC1, FCZ, FC2) and motor cortex (C3, C1, CZ, C2, C4) as suggested by Szurhaj et al (2003). ERD was measured as the percentage change in power between the video presentation (test: 500ms to 2547 ms from stimulus on-set) and a reference period (reference: À6000 ms toÀ4096 ms pre-stimulus onset and pre-rTMS onset) using the following formula: (referenceÀtest/reference) Â 100, (Pfurtscheller and Lopes da Silva, 1999).…”

“…The C3-C4 electrode pair is located near the primary somatomotor cortex, a region functionally related to sensorimotor representations of several body parts 22 . Additionally, there are studies that report the involvement of this region not only in limb's motor command, but also related to motor programming 23 . In this sense, our results on the C3-C4 electrode pair may indicate a differentiated transition between intention and execution in Br 3 mg e Br 6 mg when compared with placebo.…”

“…event-related desychrony; ERD) followed by a gradual return to their baseline state, and are sometimes proceeded by minimal synchronization effect (i.e. event-related synchrony; ERS) (Szurhaj et al, 2003). ERD and ERS phenomenon refer to increases and decreases in neural activity below (ERD) or above (ERS) baseline levels, and are believed to reflect sensorimotor activation and inhibition, respectively (Lopes da Silva & Pfurtscheller, 1999;.…”
