Basic Characteristics of Traffic on Primary Rural Roads in Serbia

Abstract: This article presents the results of an overall analysis of traffic demand characteristics on Republic of Serbia primary road network based on available data for the years 1988-2009. The analysis is based on network subdivision in three functional entities and collected data on values of basic parameters as Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) and Vehicle Kilometers / Year. “…In past, numerous investigations on traffic flow (Bazaras et al, 2008;Basu & Maitra, 2007;Junevicius & Bogdevicius, 2009;Kalasova & Stacho, 2006;Prentkovskis et al, 2007) were performed to understand different aspects of it.
