Thirty growing and healthy Yankasa rams were randomly allotted five dietary treatments with six animals per treatment to ascertain the effect of diet on their reproductive potential and hormonal profile. Treatments compared were T1 (cowpea husk 40% + tiger nuts residue 0%), T2 (cowpea husk 30% + tiger nuts residue 10%), T3 (cowpea husk 20% + tiger nuts residue 20%), T4 (cowpea husk 10% + tiger nuts residue 30%), and T5 (cowpea husk 0% + tiger nuts residue 40%). The results of the chemical composition of the diets showed that the dry matter was high for all treatments. The semen characteristics and hormonal profile showed significant differences (p < 0.05) in all the parameters observed but were within normal ranges. However, the group fed a high percent tiger nut mixed ratio had a depreciating effect on semen characteristics, and LH, FSH, and testosterone levels. There is no deleterious effect on the reproductive potential of growing Yankasa rams fed varying levels of cowpea husk and tiger nut residue at the inclusion levels in this study. Hence, it is safe to feed breeding rams the ration mix. However, the authors advise caution of including tiger nuts levels of up to 40% in a mixed ration. further investigation may be conducted with ewes to determine the effect of a mixed ration of cowpea husk and tiger nut residue in reproduction.

The study was executed to investigate the different cooling periods (0, 24, and 48 hours) effects on plasma membrane integrity depending on the hypo osmotic swelling test (HOST), spermatozoa motility, acrosome integrity, live sperm, and spermatozoa abnormalities, and correlation among the Host and other rams sperm parameters This study was done at an animal farm in Al-Kut city (southern Baghdad city\ Iraq), from 5th January to 5th February 2021 The semen was collected from four mature Arrabi rams (2-4 years old) by using an artificial vagina to the evaluation of semen characteristics The results exhibited a significant (p≤005) effect of the cooling times of the rams semen parameters, on the other hand, there is a highly significant (P≤001) correlation (positive) among host, acrosome integrity, live sperm, and spermatozoa motility (r = 100, 099, 095) respectively However, the results explained the significant (P≤005) correlation (negative) between host and spermatozoa abnormalities (r = -100) In conclusion, there are a relatively significant effect of the cooling periods and Arrabi ram semen parameters and there is a significant correlation between host and other sperm characteristics during different times of cooling

Objective: The purpose of this research was to find out the rise of spermatozoa motility of Waringin sheep which was given additional amount of PGF2α in commercial semen diluents (Andromed).Methods: A total of 3 Waringin sheep aged 2-3 years were used in this study. Semen samples were collected using an artificial vagina and evaluation of the quality of the spermatozoa was carried out macroscopically and microscopically. This study used a unidirectional completely randomized design. After evaluated, semen samples were added with Andromed diluents afterwards divided into three groups treatment, K1; K2; and K3 where each group was then added with physiologic NaCl, 37,5 µg PGF2α, and 75 µg PGF2α. All of the samples were equilibrated in refrigerator for 4 hours and spermatozoa motility was examined, then after the freezing process was carried out and stored for 24 hours, the post thawing spermatozoa motility was examined. The data obtained was analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan test.Results: The result of the research showed that motility of post equilibration spermatozoa (%) of Waringin sheeps at K1; K2; and K3 were 43,67±1,20; 75,00±4,00; and 82,33 ±3,18 (P<0,05); and motility of post thawing spermatozoa (%) of Waringin sheeps at K1; K2; and K3 were 25,33±1,85; 49,33±3,17; dan 54,00 ±5,50 (P<0,05).Conclusions: In conclusion that was the rise in motility of prefreezing spermatozoa and motility of post thawing spermatozoa of Waringin sheep which given additional amount of PGF2α on Andromed diluents.
