Introduction: Research in health care system plays an important role in advancement and development of medicine and is essential in identifying the most optimal management. Progression in medicine depends upon the training and performance of researchers in health science. Training in research activity is an important aspect of post graduate training and has been recognized as one of its key components. It enhances learning and critical thinking of the resident. Methods: A purposely constructed questionnaire was used to gather the data, questionnaire was composed on demographic items, items related to the problems/difficulties regarding research, items related to specialty selection. Questionnaire was composed of by the panel of experts including subject (research faculty of the college) specialist, English language expert, family physician. Results: Mean ± S.D of age = 29.2 ± 8.6. 62.0% of the respondents were belongs to the age group of 25-30 years old, 22.% belongs to the 31-35 years old. 44.1% were female while 55.9% were male. Only 13.0% of the respondents finished the residency program (17.1% in R1, 25.7% in R2, 21.6% in R3, 13.6% in R4 while 2.5% in R5 and 6.7% as an adhoc). 51.6% have experience of healthcare from 1 to 3 years. 31.3% respondents participated in the research as a co-author while 26.3% participated in a research as principal investigator. Conclusion: To conclude, it is necessary to guide the students to conduct studies and keep them motivated. It is also important to reward them so keep their interest intact in research. In this view involving students in research committee and providing them a platform for presentation are very good methods to keep them motivated.

Introduction:The quantity and quality of published research from Nepal, though improving, are low. Among other factors, lack of knowledge about scientific writing is an important contributor. Thus, with the objective of improving knowledge about scientific writing, a oneday workshop was conducted, entitled, "SciPub-019-Getting your article published in scientific journals". Methods: The knowledge and attitude of participants were evaluated both before and immediately after the workshop. Results: Thirty-three individuals participated with most (48.5%) being pharmacists, followed closely by doctors. 66.7% of the participants were males and 72.7% of participants had published one article as of the workshop date while the rest had published two. On specific questions, there was a significant difference between the responses regarding the abstract being the first part of the paper to be written, before and after the workshop. There was also a significant difference between the overall responses of the participants. Conclusion: Improvement in the knowledge of the participants about scientific writing and publication was noted. Workshops of similar nature should be regularly conducted to improve the knowledge of new researchers about scientific writing.

Background One of the problems facing higher education institutions in developing countries such as Ethiopia is the poor quality of undergraduate students’ academic work. However, there is a scarcity of empirical data on the specific causes of the poor quality of undergraduate study. Therefore, the aim of this research is to explore factors that influence the quality of undergraduate pharmacy students’ research projects at Ambo University in Ethiopia, from the perspective of research advisors. Methods A qualitative study was held in Ambo University, Department of Pharmacy from March 2 to March 27, 2020. A total number of 15 research advisors were the participants of the study. A semi-structured interview questionaire was prepared to explore participants’ ideas about the current situation of research quality, underlying causes and perception towards outcomes of poor quality of undergraduate pharmacy students’ research projects. The necessary data were collected through in-depth interview and qualitative content analysis was employed to analyze the data. Results The majority of the key informants thought that the quality of undergraduate pharmacy students research projects is decreasing from time to time in their university due to students’ research knowledge gap, poor commitment, and motivation, lack of communication between students and advisors, plagiarism, financial problems, shortage of experienced research advisors, advisors less motivation and dedication, insufficient research facilities, lack of research fund, poor management support, and limitation of the undergraduate curriculum. They also revealed weak students’ research capacity, absence of knowledge transfer through research publication and presentation, and inadequate baseline evidence for the policymakers are the potential outcomes of poor quality undergraduate pharmacy students’ research projects. Conclusion Undergraduate research quality is a persistent problem in the department of pharmacy of Ambo University. The problem is exacerbated due to multiple factors. As a result, the university should establish a framework for collaboration among students, advisors, and university research leaders; it should also boost students’ research capacity by hiring qualified researchers, equipping the research facility with appropriate technology, and instituting a system for monitoring and evaluating research project results.
