This systematic review of mixed methods studies focuses on factors that can facilitate or limit the implementation of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in clinical settings. Systematic searches of relevant bibliographic databases identified studies about interventions promoting ICT adoption by healthcare professionals. Content analysis was performed by two reviewers using a specific grid. One hundred and one (101) studies were included in the review. Perception of the benefits of the innovation (system usefulness) was the most common facilitating factor, followed by ease of use. Issues regarding design, technical concerns, familiarity with ICT, and time were the most frequent limiting factors identified. Our results suggest strategies that could effectively promote the successful adoption of ICT in healthcare professional practices.

Online Patient Education for Chronic Disease Management: Consumer Perspectives

Patient education plays an important role in chronic disease management. The aim of this study is to identify patients' preferences in regard to the design features of effective online patient education (OPE) and the benefits. A review of the existing literature was conducted in order to identify the benefits of OPE and its essential design features. These design features were empirically tested by conducting survey with patients and caregivers. Reliability analysis, construct validity and regression analysis were performed for data analysis. The results identified patient-tailored information, interactivity, content credibility, clear presentation of content, use of multimedia and interpretability as the essential design features of online patient education websites for chronic disease management. Quels sont les déterminants de l’adoption des TIC par les petites et moyennes entreprises (PME) au Congo ? Tel est l’objet de cette étude. Pour répondre à cette question, deux modèles économétriques Logit ont été testés. Les résultats des estimations montrent que la probabilité d’adoption d’Internet et la probabilité d’adoption du téléphone mobile par les PME sont déterminées par les déterminants communs : le secteur d’activité de l’entreprise, le potentiel de capital humain dans l’entreprise, le partenariat des PME avec les institutions étrangères. On note également les déterminants spécifiques pour chaque TIC : les exportations des produits et le coût d’abonnement à l’Internet pour la première TIC et l’existence de plusieurs sites d’activité pour la deuxième TIC.
