Barriers and enablers of TRIZ: a literature analysis using the TASKS framework

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze theory of inventive problem-solving (TRIZ) in terms of knowledge, skill, workload and affect to understand its effectiveness in enabling designers to achieve their optimized mental performance. Design/methodology/approach TASKS framework, which aims to capture the causal relations among Task workload, affect, skills, knowledge and mental stress, is adopted as our methodology. The framework supports the analysis of how a methodology influence designer’s affect, … Show more

“…The core of EBD is that products come from the environment, serve the environment, and change the environment (Zeng, 2004(Zeng, , 2012. EBD has been effectively applied in various fields, including generating design requirements in medical device design (Chen et al, 2005), developing a manual of quality management systems in the industry (Sun et al, 2011), solving enterprise applications integrations problem (Tan et al, 2012), developing a model for design chain management (Liu and Zeng, 2009), and analysing human factors (Mohammadi et al, 2022;Wen et al, 2022;Yang et al, 2021). It has also been applied in education (Ma et al, 2022;Ommi and Zeng, 2018;Su et al, 2022), organizational management (Wang et al, 2017), and health domain.…”

“…Also, there are various thinking models and methods related to learning efficiency and artificial intelligence. For example, two such models are theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) [56] and extension theory (Extenics) [49] . TRIZ focuses on systematic approaches to innovation and creative problem-solving.…”

“…Currently, TRIZ has different recognized commitments that address different phases of problem solving, including the problem definition stage, the problem investigation stage, and the problem solving stage.
