Barrier and Resources on Improving the Recovery of Cardiovascular Patient

Abstract

Abstract-Non communicable diseases that affect the number one of morbidity and mortality rate of the world is cardiovascular disease. In some hospitals in Surabaya, the highest proportion of noncommunicable diseases is also cardiovascular disease. Hospital factors which may be an barrier and resources of cardiovascular patients for improving their recovery need to be controlled. This study aims to identify the barrier and resources from hospital organization factors on improving the recovery of cardiovascular patients based on HAPA (Health Action Process Approach). This study that used analytic observational method with cross-sectional design was conducted on 101 cardiovascular patients at Husada Utama Hospital, Surabaya. The result of this study showed the hospital factor that was rehabilitation program (p=0.013), IEC (information, education, and communication) of medical team, and facilities in hospital (p=0.003) have effect to intention on cardiovascular patients for improving their recovery. Besides that, IEC (p=0.014) and facilities (p=0.024) also have effect to action on cardiovascular patients for control their behavior on improving recovery. The results of this study also showed that intention has an effect to action (p=0.000). It can be concluded that rehabilitation program, especially IEC and facilities in hospital have important role as resources for improving recovery through improving intention and action of cardiovascular patients for control their behavior.
