Baroque into Palladian: The Designing of St Giles-in-the-Fields

Abstract: The rebuilding of St Giles-in-the-Fields between 1730 and 1734 is one of the least known but most significant episodes in the history of Georgian church design, standing at a crucial crossroads of radical architectural change and representing nothing less than the first Palladian-Revival church to be erected in London in the eighteenth century (Fig. 19).
