Bandwidth Enhancement of Wang Shape Microstrip Patch Antenna for Wireless System

Abstract: In this paper a Wang shaped patch antenna has been designed for wireless communication systems application such as cellular telephone and radar for the frequency range between 0.7575GHz to 1.2121GHz. The maximum bandwidth, gain, return loss, directivity and efficiency of proposed antenna is 46.16%, 5.2dBi, -25dB, 7.60 dBi and 93% respectively. The antenna design offers high bandwidth, low profile which is feed by coaxial probe at 64.75mm, 60.135mm and height of the substrate thickness is 1.6mm.

“…The ratio between the two power density levels serves as a measure of gain. A term known as "antenna gain" can be used to describe the amount of power transferred in the direction of peak radiation from an isotropic source [40]. The term "directivity" refers to the ratio of the radiation intensity in a particular direction emanating from an antenna to the radiation intensity that has been averaged out over all directions [38].…”

“…[2][3][4][5] The first integration of Chinese characters into antenna design was the "Wang" linearly polarized patch antenna proposed in 2010. 6 After that, the design of a single fed "Wang" patch antenna with linear polarization [7][8][9] and circular polarization 10,11 was studied. Recently, more patch antennas have been realized by using other single Chinese characters, such as the Meng patch 2 and Guo patch 3 for circular polarized radiation.…”

“…The idea of making radiating patches into the shape of the Chinese character “王” was first proposed in 2010 . Subsequently, there is more and more research on the linearly polarized, circularly polarized and the antenna array of the Wang‐shaped antenna . In Reference , a reconfigurable Meng‐shaped patch antenna with unidirectional circular‐polarization is designed.…”
