“…Obesity is a complex metabolic disease, and is prone to insulin resistance, white fat and liver lipid accumulation, inflammation, and abnormal lipid metabolism. So far, there are no safe and effective drugs that can effectively treat obesity; however, individual components or extracts from BS are effective in this sense [ 21 , 23 ]. In this study, we evaluated whether BS whole powder has similar anti-obesity effects as the single component which was previously studied.…”

“…A large number of studies have shown that bamboo shoot DF has the functions of hypolipidemic, anti‐diabetes, anti‐obesity, and prebiotics. Compared with several commonly used DFs, the DF in bamboo shoot was the most effective one to inhibit fat accumulation in mice induced by high‐fat diet (X. Li et al, 2016; Li et al, 2018). The content of DF in bamboo shoot accounts for 20%–35% of the dry weight, which is a good source of high‐quality DF, and the content of IDF accounts for about 60%–90% of the total carbohydrate of bamboo shoots (Felisberto et al, 2017).…”

“…They are rich in essential nutrients such as dietary fiber, protein, carotene, vitamins, selenium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and are a good source of nutrients high in fiber and low in fat [ 1 , 2 , 6 ]. They are not only a storehouse of nutritional elements, but also contain some important antioxidants and other functional components, such as polyphenols, flavonoids, etc., which help prevent metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and obesity [ 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 ].…”
