“…ILPMD has appeared under a variety of names in the foregoing literature, many of which are specific to a particular anatomic location. 17–28 However , in this review of 28 such lesions, we have reached the conclusion that they all represent the same basic pathobiological entity, which is clearly different from LP, plasmacytoma and spirochete‐mediated infectious lesions. Our histologic findings are consonant with those noted in previous studies of plasma‐cell‐rich mucocutaneous lesions, 26,29 some of which also reported occasional Russell bodies; scattered neutrophils and lymphocytes; erosions and surface epithelial abnormalities (either atrophy or hyperplasia) 10,12 and subepithelial fibrosis.…”

“…In 1952, Zoon 1 described a “balanoposthite circonscrite bénigne à plasmocytes,” which was differentiated from erythroplasia of Queyrat by his histopathologic features and benign chronic evolution. In the last years, except in two large series, 2,5 only sporadic cases have been reported 6–9 . The vulvar counterpart of the penile lesion was recognized by Garnier in 1954 3 and further reported by others.…”

“…1 PCB typically presents as a solitary, smooth, shiny, red-orange plaque of the glans and prepuce of uncircumcised, middle-aged to older men. [2][3][4] The disease tends to be chronic and may persist for months to years. The characteristic histologic features are a band-like inflammatory infiltrate that is mainly plasmacytic in the upper dermis, dilated capillaries, and deposition of hemosiderin.…”
