The Low-Efficiency Adaptive Clustering Hierarchical (LEACH) protocol, a hierarchical routing protocol, has the advantage of simple implementation and can effectively balance network loads. However, to date there has been a lack of consideration for its use in heterogeneous energy network environments. To solve this problem, the Energy-Coverage Ratio Clustering Protocol (E-CRCP) is proposed, which is based on reducing the energy consumption of the system and utilizing the regional coverage ratio. First, the energy model is designed. The optimal number of clusters is determined based on the principle of "minimum energy consumption", and the cluster head selection is based on the principle of "regional coverage maximization". In order to balance the network load as much as possible, in the next iteration of cluster head selection, the cluster head with the lowest residual energy and the highest energy consumption is replaced to prolong the network's life. Our simulated results demonstrate that the proposed method has some advantages in terms of longer network life, load balancing, and overall energy consumption in the environment of a heterogeneous energy wireless sensor network.

The rapid development of Internet of Things has enabled intelligent products that can be applied to the Industrial 4.0, Smart City, Smart Supply Chain and Smart Buildings. Its autonomy and flexibility make possible to construct intelligent manufacturing systems. In this paper, we present the McBIM project that is based on the concept of communicating materials. A holonic manufacturing approach is proposed to handle these problems. It aims to include a WSN to the product to make it more sensitive and aware of its own internal conditions. In our approach, the "sensing device" is an embedded Wireless Sensor Network that can collect "internal" data of the intelligent material. In this context, Physical and digital parts are defined and related to four main challenges. Some existing solutions of data collection architectures are discussed for the physical part. Furthermore, these algorithms are compared with the required performance metrics of our application. Then we conclude with some perspectives for future work.

This paper presents the vision behind the McBIM project, funded by the French National Agency of Research (ANR). McBIM stands for "Communicating Matter for BIM" and is a concept coined by the CRAN laboratory, concept at the basis of the scientific contributions of the project. Building upon latest advances in Semantic Web technologies, Wireless Sensor Networks and digital twins in AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction), the project aims at delivering real-time integration of sensor data into accurate digital building representations. The overall goal is to enable actionable knowledge, meaning knowledge that supports decision making. After a brief summary of the issues addressed and the overall project vision, this article depicts main contributions made so far in the context of the ANR McBIM project. These address semantic interoperability with BIM standards (e.g. IFC ISO 16739), routing in wireless sensor networks along with autonomic computing.
