“…Se impulsó dicho proyecto a través del «Plan de obras, colonización, industrialización y electrificación de la provincia de Jaén», aprobado mediante Ley en 1953, en el cual se contemplaba, siguiendo las directrices marcadas por la política de colonización agraria del primer franquismo (Araque Jiménez et al, 2006), la transformación en regadío de las vegas próximas al Guadalquivir a lo largo de casi todo su recorrido por la provincia jiennense.
