Bacteremia caused by Desulfovibrio desulfuricans with the intestinal tract as the portal of entry: two case reports and a literature review

Abstract: Background Desulfovibrio desulfuricans (D. desulfuricans), a commensal anaerobic gram-negative rod endemic to the soil environment and human gastrointestinal tract, rarely causes bloodstream infections.
