Backstepping direct thrust force control for sensorless PMLSM drive

Abstract: This study presents an analytic designing approach for the sensorless direct thrust force control (DTFC) of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). A modified stator flux estimator developed by use of an adaptive mechanism and correction factors is devoted to measuring the stator flux linkage and the mover's position. The parameters of the flux estimator are adjusted in advance through an off-line identification process to increase the accuracy of estimation. Based on the principle of backstepping c… Show more

“…Based on the current control strategy, a backstepping thrust controller is proposed to realize the position servo of nonlinear PMLSM. Finally, to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed control scheme, a recent work on sensorless direct thrust control (11) is adopted as a comparison study. Experimental results show that this method has satisfactory tracking performance for different prescribed trajectories.…”

“…Parameter identification methods mainly include the least squares methods, 34,35 the sliding mode identification method, 36 the model reference adaptive method, 37,38 and the Kalman filter based methods, 39,40 and so forth. The Kalman filtering technique is a class of effective filtering methods for multi‐dimensional states and non‐stationary process with high estimation accuracy even in the presence of interference.…”

“…With the substantial improvements of power electronics technology and high‐performance permanent magnetic materials, permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) has achieved extremely high attention [1]. Owing to the advantageous characteristics such as high reliability, low costs and simpler structure, the PMLSM has been widely used in transportation, aerospace, industrial automation and similar fields [2, 3].…”
