Bacillus endolithicus sp. nov., isolated from pebbles

Abstract: Strain JC267T was isolated from pebbles collected from Pingleshwar beach, Gujarat, India.Cells are Gram-stain-positive, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile rods forming sub-terminal endospores in swollen ellipsoidal to oval sporangia. Strain JC267 T contains anteiso-C 15 : 0 , iso-C 15 : 0 , iso-C 14 : 0 , iso-C 16 : 0, C 16 : 0 and anteiso-C 17 : 0 as major (.5 %) cellular fatty acids.
