Ba0.4Sr0.6TiO3/MgO Composites with Enhanced Energy Storage Density and Low Dielectric Loss for Solid‐State Pulse‐Forming Line

Abstract: (100Àx) wt% Ba 0.4 Sr 0.6 TiO 3 Àx wt% MgO composites (10rxr30) were prepared using Ba 0.4 Sr 0.6 TiO 3 powder and nanosized MgO powder (B60 nm) by a solid-state reaction. The energy storage density and dielectric loss were investigated for the purpose of a potential application in solid-state pulse-forming line. The results show that Ba 0.4 Sr 0.6 TiO 3 /MgO composites exhibit a notably enhanced energy density and low dielectric loss, compared with pure Ba 0.4 Sr 0.6 TiO 3 . The enhancement of the energy dens… Show more

“…Further, it has been reported that glass addition increases the breakdown strength of ceramics which in-turn increases the energy storage capacity. 28,[30][31][32] The energy storage can be further improved by minimizing hysteresis losses. In this regards the reader is referred to numerous studies previously reported in the literature as the scope of the current work is limited.…”

“…In this context a number of studies report that the addition of glass can alter ferroelectric behavior. 28,[30][31][32] Moreover, electric field alter polarization in ferroelectric materials in three distinct regions. (a) Initially when the magnitude of applied field is below the coercive field (E c ), domain growth takes place in the preferentially aligned domains.…”

“…Stoichiometric starting powders composed of (Mg 0.9 Zn 0.1 ) 2 n at a speed of 360 rotation per minute (rpm). The slurry was dried and then calcined in air at 1190 1C for 3 h. After a second round of milling and drying, the calcined powders were uniaxially pressed into the samples under a pressure of 150 MPa.…”
