Azimuthal Angular Asymmetry of Soft Gluon Radiation in Jet Production

Yoshitaka Hatta,
Bo-Wen Xiao,
Feng Yuan
et al.

Abstract: We investigate the impact of soft gluon resummation on the azimuthal angle correlation between the total and relative momenta of two energetic final state particles (jets). We show that the initial and final state radiations induce sizable cos(φ) and cos(2φ) asymmetries in single jet and dijet events, respectively. We numerically evaluate the magnitude of these asymmetries for a number of processes in collider experiments, including diffractive dijet and dilepton production in ultraperipheral pA and AA collisi… Show more

“…A calculation based on TMD distributions is found in Ref. [32,33] and further investigated in [34,35]. However, in the region ∆φ 12 → π soft-gluon effects are expected which lead to so-called factorization -breaking [36][37][38].…”

“…We anticipate a significant reduction in the complexity of the numerical evaluation of our NLO results in this kinematic limit. At small x, this regime 16 has been extensively explored at NLO within the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution framework [88][89][90][91].…”
