The dynamism of the current digital era requires academic librarians to be lifelong learners who can take advantage of available opportunities to improve their professional competence continuously. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are online learning platforms that provide training to learners at little or no costs. While it is documented that a lot of Africans participate in MOOCs, it is not certain whether academic librarians in Nigeria are aware of and take full advantage of MOOCs. The study surveyed awareness and use of MOOCs among academic librarians in Nigeria. A questionnaire was used for data collection. This was administered to 83 librarians from five randomly selected university libraries in Ogun state, Nigeria. Data were subjected to descriptive analysis. The findings revealed that more than half (61.4%) of the respondents were aware of MOOCs whereas, only (42.9%) enrolled for MOOCs. MIT Open Courseware (40%) was the most popular MOOC website among the librarians. Many (53.3%) of those that enrolled expressed inactive participation. Lack of time (50%) was a major barrier to MOOC participation among librarians. The paper recommended that university as well as library management need to formulate strategies and programs that will promote active participation in MOOC among librarians.

Over the years, there has been a tremendous growth in online social networking which contributed to the revolution of higher education's learning environment. MOOCs is recognized to be a current evolvement in higher learning institution in Malaysia with the aim to provide quality education for the students. However, there are some challenges to identify the main factors that contribute to student performance enhancement in teaching and learning. Therefore, this study was intended to find out performance of business school students using MOOCs at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). A survey was conducted with 353 students from Faculty of Technology Management and Technopreneurship (FPTT), while multiple regression was employed to analyse the relationship between learning environments and students' performance enhancement in teaching and learning. This study will be beneficial to the students to find out the learning content of MOOCs that influence students' performance in the university. Hence, indirectly improve their learning style in the era of technology. Besides, MOOCs learning is important because students can implement the blended learning in their job environment, consequently improve their skills and knowledge. With this blended learning technology, it can increase the students' attraction toward study and decrease the number of unemployment rate in Malaysia.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have been disruptive advancements in online learning and teaching in the last decade. We argue that discourses on the value and limitations of MOOCs have largely taken for granted that students are aware of the existence of MOOCs. In the current research, we examined students' awareness of MOOCs and explored digital competence as a potential predictor of such awareness, hypothesising that the effect may be exerted via social media application use. We deployed a questionnaire (Study 1: N = 152, Study 2: N = 158) to measure students' levels of digital competence, their use of social media applications, and their awareness of MOOCs. We also examined students' motivations for enrolling or not enrolling in MOOCs. The results supported our hypothesis that low digital competence is a predictor of low MOOC awareness, but the results from the mediation analysis were not conclusive. Dans la présente recherche, nous avons examiné la sensibilisation des étudiants aux MOOC et exploré la compétence numérique en tant que prédicteur potentiel de cette sensibilisation, en émettant l'hypothèse que l'effet peut être exercé par l'utilisation d'applications de médias sociaux. Nous avons diffusé un questionnaire (étude 1 N = 152, étude 2 N = 158) pour mesurer les niveaux de compétence numérique des étudiants, leur utilisation des applications de médias sociaux et leur connaissance des MOOC. Nous avons également examiné les motivations des étudiants pour s'inscrire ou non à des MOOC. Les résultats confirment notre hypothèse selon laquelle une faible compétence numérique est un facteur prédictif d'une faible connaissance des MOOC, mais les résultats de l'analyse de médiation ne sont pas concluants.
