Agriculture is the main occupation of the inhabitants in Tripura and 80 per cent of the rural people depend on agriculture and allied sectors for the economic, food and nutritional security. Tripura has got highly suitable agro-climatic conditions to grow pineapple fruit. Livelihoods of many farmers largely depend on pineapple cultivation. However, pineapple cultivation is not delivering the desired output as it is constrained by several factors. Present study was conducted in year 2021 to delineate various constraints of pineapple cultivation and to determine difficulty level of each constraint as perceived by a random sample of 80 farmers. Various constraints were categorized as situational, technological, economic, social, environmental, infrastructure, and market related constraints. The major constraints identified were low rainfall, scarcity of water, labour intensiveness, high labour wage, high cost of cultivation, low adoption of scientific practices by neighbouring farmers, lack of group approach in farming, lack of infrastructure like; soil testing laboratory, agro-service centre, storage facilities and low-quality packaging. Lack of organised marketing facilities was the major concern for respondents-farmers. Future policy advocacies and agro advisories for development of pineapple cultivation need to focus on combating aforesaid constraints in pineapple cultivation.

The paper investigates an innovative extension approach of generation and distribution ofLand Resource Cards, developed from Land Resource Inventory database, used for site-specific farm resource management in watersheds adopted under World Bank funded Sujala-III project. Extent of reach, satisfaction level and training status of Land Resource Cardsin 12 model micro-watersheds located in different agro-climatic regions of Karnataka witha sample size of 720 farmers was assessed. The Land Resource Cards reached only 18 percent of farmers while 22 per cent of farmers were trained for its utilization. However, 77per cent were satisfied with the information provided and 23 per cent suggested for furtherimprovement in cards for greater utility. The overall farmer’s perception on capacity buildingon land resource cards revealed that they were very useful in farm-level resourcemanagement. Hence, need for replication of similar approach in all database drivenwatersheds to be implemented in the future with adoption of modifications is suggested.

The current investigation took place in five districts of Haryana, India, namely, Ambala, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, and Yamunanagar. The primary objective was to understand the challenges confronted by farmers in adopting water conservation management practices. The findings presented in this paper stem from a field survey conducted during the 2020–21 period involving 150 respondents. These participants were interviewed using a well-structured and pretested interview schedule. The analysis of the collected data was performed with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) tool. The results indicate that a majority of respondents identified financial constraints (WMS 2.45) and infrastructure constraints (WMS 2.39) as highly serious, while constraints related to manpower (WMS 2.15) and awareness were considered comparatively less serious (WMS 2.03). The study's conclusion highlights that most respondents perceive these constraints as significant, underscoring the urgent need to motivate and encourage farmers to embrace effective management practices. Additionally, the study emphasizes the necessity for a water policy to ensure its proper utilization.
