Averaged Scale in Electronegativity Joined to Physicochemical Perturbations. Consequences of Periodicity

Abstract: In this work, we propose a new representative electronegativity scale χ DC based on a statistical analysis of 11 electronegativity scales associated with electric ionic resonance energy, ionization potential, electron affinity, polarizability, electric force, average orbital energy, chemical potential, electrochemical reduction potential, and electric potential energy. Among these scales, it is the new PE° electronegativity scale, which relates the reduction potential E … Show more

“…41 method analyzed 9 physicochemical variables against 11 EN scales. 42 A third approach was used to quantify the effectiveness of EN scales to correctly separate ionic (I), covalent (C), and metallic (M) bonding types of binary compounds. 43 Cardinal values of EN for 31 representative elements were found for 312 binary compounds of relatively pure bonding types.…”

“…One such method evaluated how effectively the ionicity of 72 cubic A m B n solids produced linear relationships with respect to 5 important EN scales . Another method analyzed 9 physicochemical variables against 11 EN scales . A third approach was used to quantify the effectiveness of EN scales to correctly separate ionic (I), covalent (C), and metallic (M) bonding types of binary compounds .…”

“…(Here, Q of an exothermic reaction was regarded as positive; in present-day notation, Q = ÀÁH f .) Since then, dozens of different systems, scales and formulae of ENs have been proposed, based on various physical properties of atoms and molecules; see historical surveys by Batsanov & Batsanov (2012), Sproul (2020), Campero & Ponce (2020).…”
