Soil variability occurs due to natural and anthropogenic factors acting at various spatial and temporal scales. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the spatial variability as well as the relation of some chemical attributes using different statistical techniques. The study was conducted in the municipality of Maracanaú (CE, Brazil) in the commercial area of sugar cane in a typic Hapludalf. Soils were sampled in a 100 x 100 m grid every 10 m and at a depth between 0 and 20 cm for determination of exchangeable acidity, pH (KCl), Ca, Na, K, Mg, P, N, sum of bases, cationic exchange capacity, base saturation and organic matter. Data were subjected to analysis of descriptive statistics, multivariate analysis and geostatistics. Attributes showed low and medium variability, except for pH that did not show spatial dependence. Different statistical tools helped to identify the soil spatial variability and to get a better understanding of relationships among different attributes. Techniques also allowed to better plan and control agricultural production, especially in carrying out site specific management of agricultural inputs.

R E S U M OPropôs-se, neste trabalho, avaliar a variabilidade espacial dos atributos de fertilidade do solo em Latossolo Vermelho Amarelo em plantio direto para o algodoeiro em Cristalina, GO, visando à adoção da agricultura de precisão no manejo da área. A grade amostral foi constituída de 90 pontos (80 x 80 m) distribuídos numa área de 57,6 ha. Foram determinados os teores de P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Na, Cu, Mn, B, Zn, Fe, matéria orgânica (MO), pH, soma de bases (SB), saturação por bases (V), saturação por alumínio (m) e condutividade elétrica aparente do solo (CE) a 30 e 90 cm de profundidade. Efetuou-se a análise descritiva clássica e em seguida foram modelados semivariogramas para todos os atributos e mapas de krigagens. A dependência espacial das propriedades do solo analisadas indica que as variações espaciais devem ser consideradas no planejamento de coleta de amostras de solo e nas práticas de manejo do solo. Para a adoção da agricultura de precisão e aplicação de insumos em taxa variável, deve-se realizar um estudo criterioso da variabilidade da fertilidade do solo, gerando mapas por classe de fertilidade de cada atributo, o que permite identificar para quais atributos esta prática de manejo deve ser adotada. Spatial variability of soil fertility in cultivated area of cotton in Brazilian Savannah A B S T R A C TThe objective of this work was to analyze the spatial variability of fertility attributes in an Oxisol under tillage to cotton cultivation in Cristalina, GO, aiming the adoption of precision agriculture in the area management. The soil was collected using a sample grid, which consisted of 90 points (80 x 80 m), distributed into 57.6 ha. Were determined contents of P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Na, Cu, Mn, B, Zn, Fe, organic matter (OM), pH, sum of bases (SB), base saturation (V), aluminum saturation (m), as well as the apparent electrical conductivity of soil (EC) measured at 30 and 90 cm depth. Classic descriptive analysis was conducted and then, semivariograms were modeled for all attributes and krigging maps. The spatial dependence of analyzed soil properties indicates that the spatial variability should be considered during the planning of soil sampling and also to soil management practices. Concerning to precision agriculture adoption and the application of inputs in variable rates, it is required to do a careful study of the soil fertility variability, creating maps based on fertility classes for each attribute, allowing to identify for which attributes this management practice should be adopted. Resumo -Solos submetidos ao mesmo sistema de manejo em locais com pequena variação de relevo manifestam variabilidade espacial de atributos diferenciada. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a variabilidade espacial do diâmetro médio geométrico de agregados na classe >2 mm, na classe 2-1 mm e da matéria orgânica em um Latossolo Vermelho eutroférrico sob cultivo de cana-de-açúcar. Foram feitas amostragens do solo em intervalos regulares de 10 m, em forma de malha, totalizando 100 pontos, coletadas nas profundidades de 0,0-0,2 m e 0,2-0,4 m. Os dados foram submetidos à análise estatística descritiva, geoestatística e krigagem. Em relação à matéria orgânica, os valores do coeficiente de variação foram baixos na profundidade de 0,0-0,2 m e médio na profundidade de 0,2-0,4 m; foi alto para o diâmetro médio geométrico e médio para agregados na classe >2 mm e agregados na classe 2-1 mm. Observou-se dependência espacial em todas as variáveis, e os maiores alcances foram observados na profundidade de 0,0-0,2 m nas variáveis estudadas. Pequenas variações no gradiente do declive e nas formas do relevo condicionaram variabilidade espacial diferenciada da matéria orgânica e estabilidade de agregados nas profundidades estudadas.Termos para indexação: Saccharum officinarum, geoestatística, krigagem, relação solo-paisagem, Latossolo. The objective of this work was to evaluate the spatial variability of the geometric medium diameter, aggregates in the >2 mm class, aggregates in the 2-1 mm class and organic matter of an Oxisol under culture of the sugarcane. Samplings of the soil in regular intervals of 10 m, in grid form, totaling 100 points, collected in the depths of 0.0-0.2 m and 0.2-0.4 m were made. Data were submitted to descriptive statistics, geostatistics and in sequence to kriging analyzes. Values of the variation coefficient were low for organic matter in the depth of 0.0-0.2 m, mean in the depth of 0.2-0.4 m, high for geometric medium diameter and mean for aggregates in the >2 mm class, aggregates in the 2-1 mm class in all studied depths. The occurrence of space dependence was observed for all the variables, and the largest ones were observed in the depth of 0.0-0.2 m. Small variations in the forms of the relief condition spatial variability differentiated for organic matter and stability of aggregates in the studied depths.
