Abstract:Resumo: O tabaco possui mais de 4.000 substâncias conhecidas, dentre as quais a nicotina é a que apresenta maior concentração na planta. Níveis elevados de nicotina no organismo podem levar a intoxicações e ao desenvolvimento da doença do tabaco verde. No organismo o processo de biotransformação da nicotina gera cotinina, considerada o biomarcador para a exposição ao tabaco.
