Auxin: simply complicated

Abstract: Auxin is a plant hormone involved in an extraordinarily broad variety of biological mechanisms. These range from basic cellular processes, such as endocytosis, cell polarity, and cell cycle control over localized responses such as cell elongation and differential growth, to macroscopic phenomena such as embryogenesis, tissue patterning, and de novo formation of organs. Even though the history of auxin research reaches back more than a hundred years, we are still far from a comprehensive understanding of how au… Show more

“…Key components of auxin signaling include the TRANSPORT INHIBITOR RESPONSE (TIR)/AFB family of auxin-receptor F-box proteins, AUX/IAA coreceptors, and ARF transcription factors (Sauer et al, 2013), which had broad patterns of expression (Fig. 9C).…”

“…Several bacteria from the genus Pseudomonas have been reported as PGP. The most representative and studied species is Pseudomonas fluorescens, which has multiple mechanisms as fluorescence Rainey 2013, Yin et al 2014), phosphate solubilization (Babikova et al 2014) and auxins and gibberellins production (Donati et al 2013, Sauer et al 2013, Colo et al 2014. The same traits have been found in Pseudomonas putida (Ambardar et al 2013, Islam et al 2014.…”

“…Auxin is an important signaling molecule in plants, with the level and type of response that it triggers dependent on both its concentration and downstream signaling events (reviewed in Sauer et al, 2013). At the site of action, auxin signaling is initiated through binding of the hormone to the TRANSPORT INHIBITOR RESPONSE1/AUXIN SIGNALING F-BOX PROTEIN (TIR1/AFB) and AUXIN/INDOLE ACETIC ACID (Aux/IAA) protein coreceptors and the consequent targeting of the Aux/IAA proteins for degradation (Dharmasiri et al, 2005;Kepinski and Leyser, 2005;Calderón-Villalobos et al, 2012).…”
