“…Typically, auxetic structures are anisotropic (i.e. different properties in different directions), undergoing different expansion rates depending on the axis stretched, however, this deformation is Stretchable Structures [6], [27], [32], [44], [46], [98], [111], [112], [141], [142], [151], [174], [175], [174], [176], [197], [212], [213], [216], [221], [223], [242], [246] iSkin [247], Stretchis [248], [128] [2], [3], [12], [22], [29], [30], [36], [57], [58], [59], [60], [78], [118], [149], [153], [181], [192], [201], [203], [204], [205], [206], [207], …”

“…All structures exhibited approximately 40-70% higher plateau stress in dynamic compression. 3) The effect of the strain rate sensitive filling on mechanical properties was evaluated. Gelatine filling had negligible effect on the plateau stress and absorbed energy in quasi-static compression.…”

“…[1][2][3][4][5] Auxetic materials exhibit high specific energy absorption as they can have significant plateau region where a large amount of impact energy is dissipated. Moreover, the auxetic materials show increased resistance against penetration as they increase density under the impacting object.…”

“…If one remember that for any anisotropic material Poisson's ratio should lie in the interval −1 < ν < 1/2, providing positive values of the other Cauchy elastic moduli, the current value ν m * = −1/3 is admissible and corresponds to a material of auxetic type, see [21], [4]. Theoretically at p → ∞ i.e.…”

“…Special attention has been attracted to light alloys and other materials of metal or ceramic matrix [1] , [2] , [3]. Metal foams are materials of high porosity which possess specific combination of thermo-mechanical and physical properties, [4]. For their very low specific weights and thus high specific stiffnesses, they are able to absorb significant amount of deformation energy while guaranteeing other properties such as high fire and heat resistance, noise attenuation and shielding of electromagnetic devices.…”
