Autonomie Model Validation with Test Data for 2010 Toyota Prius

Abstract: The Prius-a power-split hybrid electric vehicle from Toyota-has become synonymous with the word "Hybrid." As of October 2010, two million of these vehicles had been sold worldwide, including one million vehicles purchased in the United States. In 2004, the second generation of the vehicle, the Prius MY04, enhanced the performance of the components with advanced technologies, such as a new magnetic array in the rotors. However, the third generation of the vehicle, the Prius MY10, features a remarkable change of… Show more

“…The model used to represent the baseline EMS is consistent with previous research in that it is a modification of the publically available 2004 Toyota Prius in the Autonomie modeling software to represent a 2010 Toyota Prius [25]. The Autonomie modeling software has demonstrated strong correlation with real-world testing and is generally accepted as the standard among industry and research professionals [31].…”

“…Also, the fuel economy is increased, and a detail comparison analysis based on testing data shows that the system efficiency of MY10 is improved compared with MY04. 10,11 Filtering the test data Figure 4 shows a general organization of controllers. Although noise signals are already filtered by sophisticated data-acquisition processes at the test bench, the obtained test data are not supposed to be directly used for the control analysis, since the obtained data are frequently output signals of a control unit or system feedbacks, as shown in Figure 4.…”

“…Te negative portion of vehicle tractive power (P tractive ) multiplied by the regenerative braking energy efciency and the positive friction and engine inertia torque losses (T loss ) were added to estimate the electric power applied to the BISG motor for P0 applications. Te regenerative brake power, P rgen_brake , [11,12] of the BISG is calculated by using 48 V motor/generator efciency maps as shown in Eq. (4):…”
