Automating Production Process Data Acquisition Towards Spaghetti Chart 4.0

Abstract: Automation of logistics and production processes is one of the significant goals of the Industry 4.0 movement. Thus, this study uses the automatic data acquisition approach to automatically create Spaghetti Charts (SC), decrease the required time spent on collecting data, and provide a fast analysis (feedback). Smartphone technology used for drawing the automated spaghetti diagram has potential drawbacks related to safety, security, the privacy of organizations, and independency. “…During the previous years, firms have started to use Servitization as a strategy for doing business, which has triggered the appearance of Product-Service Systems [17,18]. Product-Service Systems represent a way to increase a product's value, by including different kinds of services as a part of the final version of the product that is offered to the end users [19,20]. These services range from basic to advanced, where the basic ones represent services related to the characteristics of the product, while the advanced services do not relate to the product's characteristics [21].…”

“…For example, the authors pointed out how workers in Industry 5.0 themselves manage to make their work environment and supply chains more resilient based on their cognition and movement using digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (Cortés-Leal et al, 2022), (Ahmed et al, 2023), (Miloradov et al, 2022), (Bastos et al, 2022). All of the above led to the general agreement that Industry 5.0 differs from all previous revolutions that have occurred in the industry, due to the fact that it represents a socio-technological phenomenon that involves all interested parties in order to replace the classical economic models based on consumption and profit, turned into resilient, regenerative, sustainable and circular economic models that further create value (Ghobakhloo et al, 2022), (Nayeri et al, 2023), (Al-Zubaidi et al, 2022).…”

“…In the recent years, the industrial world has significantly changed through a digital transformation where an increasing number of devices are getting interconnected and becoming able to seamlessly communicate, share and analyze data, collaborate among themselves as well as with other services, processes and people. This transformation where traditional industrial systems are augmented with advanced digital technologies is also known as the fourth industrial revolution, or the Industry 4.0 (Al-Zubaidia et al 2022, Bajic et al 2020, Hauge et al 2021, Hermann et al 2016, Lasi et al 2014, Salunkhea et al 2022, Vaidya et al 2018. One of the main aspects of the Industry 4.0 is networking, communication, exchanging data between devices, systems, services, which is known as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).…”
