Composing choreography is challenging because it involves numerous iterative refinements. According to our video analysis and interviews, choreographers typically need to imagine dancers' movements to revise drafts on paper since testing new movements and formations with actual dancers takes time. To address this difficulty, we present an interactive group-dance simulation interface, DanceUnisoner, that assists choreographers in composing a group dance in a simulated environment. With DanceUnisoner, choreographers can arrange excerpts from solo-dance videos of dancers throughout a three-dimensional space. They can adjust various parameters related to the dancers in real time, such as each dancer's position and size and each movement's timing. To evaluate the effectiveness of the system's parametric, visual, and interactive interface, we asked seven choreographers to use it and compose group dances. Our observations, interviews, and quantitative analysis revealed their successful usage in iterative refinements and visual checking of choreography, providing insights to facilitate further computational creativity support for choreographers.

To show of their playing, musicians publish musical performance videos on streaming services. In order to fnd out typical characteristics of guitar performance videos, we carried out a quantitative survey of guitar performance videos. Then, we discuss key problems of creating efects informed by the survey. According to the discussion, authoring videos with typical efects takes a long time even for experienced users because they typically need to combine multiple video tracks (e.g., lyrics and videos shot from multiple angles) into a single track. They need to synchronize all tracks with the musical piece and set transitions between them at the right timing, aware of the musical structure. This paper presents Instrumeteor, an authoring tool for musical performance videos. First, it automatically analyzes the musical structure in the tracks to align them on a single timeline. Second, it implements typical video efects informed by the survey. In this way, our tool reduces manual work and unleashes the musicians' creativity. The same dance can give different impressions depending on the way the dancers convey their own emotions and personality through their interpretation of the dance. Beginner dancers who are teaching themselves often search for dance videos online that match their own personality in order to practice and mimic them, but it is not easy to find a dance that suits their own personality and skill level. In this work, we examined hip-hop dance to determine whether it is possible to identify one's own dance from skeleton information acquired by Kinect and whether it is possible to mechanically extract information representing the individuality of dance. Experimental results showed that rich experienced dancers could distinguish their own dances by only skeleton information, and it was also possible to distinguish from averaged skeletal information. Furthermore, we generated features from the skeletal information of dance and clarified that individual dance can be distinguished accurately by machine learning.
