Automatic MRI Brain Tumor Segmentation Techniques: A Survey

Abstract: Image segmentation plays a crucial role in recognizing image signification for checking and mining medical image records. Brain tumor segmentation is a complicated assignment in medical image analysis. It is challenging to identify precisely and extract that a portion of the image has abnormal tissues for further diagnosis and analysis. The method of segmenting a tumor from a brain MRI image is a highly concentrated medical science community field, as MRI is non-invasive. In this survey, brain MRI images' late… Show more

“…Fig. 3 reveals classes of Glioma which are provided by AANS under the grades defined by WHO in which Lowgrade gliomas include oligodendrogliomas and astrocytoma's, while high-grade gliomas include glioblastoma multiform [1,2,6,7,12,13]. AANS showed the most broadly used marking scheme developed by WHO (World Health Organization) to classify the histological characteristics of brain tumors (especially for Glioma) under the magnifying lens into categories (Grade 1 to Grade 4) depending on their malignancy or benignity, shows in Fig.…”

“…Medical imaging is the method of taking images of the human body's internal organs and analyzing them for diagnostic and therapeutic reasons. The study of human tissues and organs is a further application of this approach [12]. Usually, Biopsy is used for diagnosis purposes, but it is intrusive which may cause bleeding and injury [3].…”
