Automatic gene annotation using GO terms from cellular component domain

Abstract: BackgroundThe Gene Ontology (GO) is a resource that supplies information about gene product function using ontologies to represent biological knowledge. These ontologies cover three domains: Cellular Component (CC), Molecular Function (MF), and Biological Process (BP). GO annotation is a process which assigns gene functional information using GO terms to relevant genes in the literature. It is a common task among the Model Organism Database (MOD) groups. Manual GO annotation relies on human curators assigning … Show more

“…The GO contains a set of terms to describe the activity and actions of gene products with three sectors: cellular component, molecular function, and biological process (Roncaglia et al, 2013;Ding et al, 2018). In our study, the integral component of membrane (GO:0016021) and extracellular region (GO:0005576) in the cellular component category enriched the most numbered DEGs, which indicated that the gill tissue is actively involved in the response to hypoxic stress.…”

“…GO terms include biological processes (BP), Cellular composition (CC) and molecular function (MF). The function description of gene products obtained from various databases is consistent [13] . The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) is a bioinformatics resource for understanding biological function from a genomic perspective.…”

“…The GO functional enrichment analysis of the genes in four modules was made with the assistance of R software, including a bar plot ( Figure 3 ) and circle distribution plot ( Figure 4 ). The GO functional analysis was divided into three parts: BP, cell component (CC), and molecular function (MF) [ 14 ]. Among these, we focused mainly on the BP part.…”
