Automatic Control of Roller Cards

Abstract: Objects: 1) To determine the transfer function of a roller card by means of a sampling card. 2) To investigate the optimum condition for controlling the roller card by a closed loop control system. Methods: 1) The outline of this system is assumed from transient response in step input. Its time constant is obtained from the variance of output web produced by creating rectangular wave input with periodic revolutions of the feed roller. 2) The optimum value of the controllers is obtained by taking the unevenness… Show more

“…To increase the quantity and quality of the product web, a lot of proposed approaches and inventions have been introduced by scientists and engineers and focused on two main parts: the mechanism and the control system. In 1964, Higuchi and Takahashi 1 found the mathematical model of the roller set for the transfer function of the roller carding system, employed the final value theorem and the power spectrum density to analyze and obtain the delay time and time constant, and investigated the effect of four types of system controllers on the delay time and external interference. In 1991, Fritzsche 2 proposed a spacing sensor and check the spacing between the main carding cylinders and carding machine parts such as licker-in, stationary flat, doffering roller.…”

“…The carding machine was subject to long-term delay to produce even cotton web. 2 In 1963, Shoman et al deduced the transfer function of carding machine, and controlled the rotation rate of doffer by the feedback control method. 3 Later, in 1995, Gutierrez et al proposed the transfer function of a linear time invariant system, and designed a state controller with a reduced order linear estimator.…”

“…In the field of the roller carding machine control studies, Higuchi and Takahashi, 1 Murakami et al, 2 Gutierrez et al 3 and Kuo and Hsieh 4 applied a variety of roller cards or their mechanical component control methods. By the derived mathematical models, the system was simplified by the reduced-order model or controlled by using the first-order mathematical model.…”
