Automatic Code Generation From UML State Chart Diagrams

Abstract: The fact that event driven systems can be modeled and implemented using unified modeling language (UML) state chart diagrams has led to the development of code generation tools. These are tremendously helpful in making software system designs and can even generate skeletal source code from these designs. The implementation of such automatic code generation from state diagrams is not fully supported by the existing programming languages. The major down side is that there is no one-to-one correspondence between … Show more

“…Núñez et al in [8], based on the Model-Driven Development (MDD) approach, elaborate on the transition from platform-independent to platform-specific models. Sunitha et al [9] and Simon et al [10] investigated the effects of UML-based modeling on code generation, while Apostol et al [11] focused on the costs and challenges of UML-derived code. In this framework, Sánchez-Morales et al [12], Chaber et al [13], and Burak et al [14] address automated code generation processes and demonstrate the potential for integration with different platforms and paradigms.…”

“…Recent studies have achieved significantly better results in various contexts with the use of state diagrams, see for example [41], [42]. A wide number of approaches such as [21,[43][44][45] provide implementation of state diagrams in object-oriented way, i.e., in a WTG setting. The existing approaches to generate code from state charts have achieved a lot, yet the same needs to be extended for AOSD and done in the GTW setting.…”
