Automated synthesis of computational circuits using genetic programming

Abstract: Analog electrical circuits that perform mathematical functions (e.g., cube root, square) are called computational circuits. Computational circuits are of special practical importance when the small number of required mathematical functions does not warrant converting an analog signal into a digital signal, performing the mathematical function in the digital domain, and then converting the result back to the analog domain. The design of computational circuits is difficult even for mundane mathematical functions… Show more

“…They proposed a code outline in which each element was represented by a fixed number of bytes called bytecodes in which they included an operation code that dictated the connection of each element and three bytes more they used to code its value. Koza on the other hand, continued making use of the genetic programming in the synthesis of computational circuits (Koza, 1997b) and controllers, filters and other kind of circuits . According to Ricardo Zebulum and his collaborators (Zebulum et al, 1998), the Evolutionary Electronics is an area that seeks to find new techniques of automatic design based on Darwinian concepts.…”
