Autogenous DDM versus Bio‐Oss granules in GBR for immediate implantation in periodontal postextraction sites: A prospective clinical study

Abstract: The autogenous DDM granules prepared at the chairside after extractions could act as an excellent readily available alternative to bone graft material in GBR, even for implantation of severe periodontitis cases.

“…Out of the 23 studies (Table 1), there were 11 randomised controlled clinical trials [21-24, 26, 29-32, 36, 37, 39], one prospective cohort study [34,40], three retrospective cohort studies [18,20,33], and eight case series [16,17,19,25,27,28,35,38,[41][42][43], of which two research groups independently published two follow-up papers on the same study cohort [21,22,27,28], and they have been collectively grouped under one study name for this analysis. The follow-up period after ridge augmentation or implant placement was reported in all studies except two [16,35], and it ranged from 3.1 months to 10 years.…”

“…The main procedures reported by the few randomised controlled trials in literature are resumed in Table 2, using dentine derivates as socket preservation, guided bone regeneration and sinus augmentation [41,[43][44][45][46][47] Demineralised dentin vs. mineralised dentin Alveolar preservation…”

“…A report of a previous case of long-term follow-up (5 years) reported 1 mm of buccal marginal bone resorption around the implant with the formation of cortico-cancellous bone, approximately six years after socket preservation in 2016 [9]. So far, Auto-DDM accelerates bone regeneration in numerous human clinical studies [10,11]. Recently, a fragmented, partially demineralized tooth matrix was used for maxillary sinus augmentation.…”
