“…Using it as a feed additive not only regulates the immune function, intestinal flora, and lipid metabolism of laying hens and broilers but also avoids environmental pollution due to its incineration or use in landfills ( Mahfuz et al, 2019a ; Liu et al., 2020b ). A study by Nguepi Tsopmejio et al (2021) in our laboratory found that golden needle mushroom improved intestinal inflammation and antioxidant factors in mice through the NF-κB and Nrf2/Keap1 signaling pathways. Based on the active components contained in FVS, this study investigated the effects of FVS on the regulation of antioxidant capacity via the liver–blood–ovary axis in 67-wk-old laying hens, which in turn regulates ovarian apoptosis and liver lipid metabolism and transport, and verified the beneficial effects of reproductive hormones on follicle development and yolk precursor synthesis.…”

“…Meanwhile, intestinal inflammatory damage in the LFVP and HFVP groups were more serious than that in the LFFVP and HFFVP groups, respectively. A previous study showed that FVP could ameliorate bowel inflammation and modulate the gut microbiota on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced inflammatory bowel disease ( 36 ). Besides, FVP could also improve the clinical symptoms and attenuate the mRNA and protein expressions of inflammatory cytokines and oxidative markers in colon tissue.…”

“…25 Tsopmejio et al found that the crude water extract of Auricularia polytricha and Flammulina velutipes not only decreased the secretion of TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6, but also increased the levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-10 and IL-4. 32 We measured the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and found that the inhibition rates for TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 were 20.2%-35%, 17.31%-24.53%, and 36.19%-44.25%, respectively. However, we proved that PTRP inhibited the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and reduced the inflammation of colon tissue.…”

“…One of the most important representatives of Actinobacteria in human intestine is Bifidobacterium, which is also considered to promote health. 8,32,40,41 Proteobacteria include many known pathogenic bacteria which cause serious damage to the host. In addition, Akkermansia muciniphila is the only representative of Verrucomicrobia in human intestine, and has also been found to increase significantly in patients with colorectal cancer.…”
