Augmented reality in teaching of electrodynamics

Abstract: PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to present an application of augmented reality (AR) in the context of teaching of electrodynamics. The AR visualization technique is applied to electromagnetic fields. Carrying out of numerical simulations as well as preparation of the AR display is shown. Presented examples demonstrate an application of this technique in teaching of electrodynamics.Design/methodology/approachThe 3D electromagnetic fields are computed with the finite element method (FEM) and visualized with … Show more

“…To visualize industrial engineering data in AR, Bruno et al [12] developed a framework, called VTK4AR, that provides a set of classes for the AR visualization of scientific datasets with the VTK. Buchau et al [13] applied AR technology in the context of teaching electrodynamics in a lecture room. In this system, 3-D magnetic fields and electromagnetic fields are prepared with FEA software, and imported to a special visualization system for the AR environment, namely, COVISE.…”

“…Neste software é possível visualizar superfícies tóricas, das quais três são animadas. Buchau et al (2009) criaram três aplicações baseadas em RA para serem utilizadas no ensino do campo magnético de um ímã, do campo magnético de um solenóide e do campo magnético de uma antena. Na figura 10, podese ver o campo magnético de uma antena, resultado deste trabalho.…”
