Augmentation Rhinoplasty in Cleft Lip Nasal Deformity Using Alloplastic Material and Autologous Cartilage

Abstract: Kamel et al 8 reported the use of a posterior rotation flap technique during the distraction osteogenesis of ULS. The increase in intracranial volume was considered sufficient in this report. In addition, they showed that the posterior ration flap technique provides a sufficient increase in intracranial volume, and our method is comparable with their study. The bone flap in our method was slightly smaller than that in their study, and the location of the valve was localized near the occipital region. 8 Barrel … Show more

“…As part of the research, the Rhinoplasty Outcome Evaluation (ROE) survey was administered, the Mortier scoring scale was modified, and 8 intranasal symmetry measurements and 4 nasofacial measurements were measured. A comparison was made between preoperative and postoperative patient satisfaction and nasal esthetics [ 41 , 60 – 63 ].…”

“…Utilization of biocompatible scaffolds also overcomes the drawbacks of traditional alloplastic materials used in CMF reconstruction, which are prone to infection and eventual extrusion 64–66 . Ultimately, patients and surgeons have reported improved esthetic outcomes and shorter operative time without a compromise in function 2,4,67 …”

“…[64][65][66] Ultimately, patients and surgeons have reported improved esthetic outcomes and shorter operative time without a compromise in function. 2,4,67 On a microscale, 3D printing processes allow for scaffold customization to meet the needs of each unique defect environment (eg, load-bearing demands). Moreover, modifications to ink formulations, lattice porosity size, and sintering temperatures dictate construct resorption kinetics, mechanical strength, and bone-forming capabilities.…”

“…However, the hardness of the nose tip after the operation, the damage to the donor site, and the increase in the operation risk avert some of these beauty seekers from pursuing this surgery. [2][3][4] The high cost and risk of implant exposure impede porous polyethylene from becoming widely used. Polytetrafluoroethylene is also an expensive implant; however, its postoperative infection rate is relatively higher than that of silicone prosthesis augmentation rhinoplasty.…”

“…Because of the influence of web celebrity esthetic, autogenous rib cartilage augmentation rhinoplasty has become a favored procedure. However, the hardness of the nose tip after the operation, the damage to the donor site, and the increase in the operation risk avert some of these beauty seekers from pursuing this surgery 2–4 . The high cost and risk of implant exposure impede porous polyethylene from becoming widely used.…”
