Abstract:SummaryWe describe two patients who developed an extensive catheter-related upper extremity deep vein thrombosis and a cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, respectively. Both thrombotic complications occurred in the presence of an elevated platelet count. Subsequent detection of the JAK2 V617F and MPL mutations led to the diagnosis of a myeloproliferative neoplasia.
