Atypical pulmonary phaeohyphomycosis due to Aureobasidium spp. – case report and brief literature review

Abstract: We report on a case of probable invasive Auerobasidium spp. pulmonary infection in a patient with myelodysplastic syndrome. The patient was successfully treated with liposomal amphotericin B monotherapy, with transition to orally administered isavuconazole. This case shows an atypical initial radiological presentation with diffuse ground-glass opacities, as previously demonstrated in cases of Aureobasidium spp. hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
