Tourism, particularly eco-tourism, promotes long-term development by supporting local economies while protecting ecosystems and culture. It also acts as a conservation catalyst, raising awareness about biodiversity and encouraging environmental stewardship. It promotes a greater understanding of nature through educational programs and programs, boosting support for conservation projects. This research investigates tourism's cultural, ecological, and socioeconomic ramifications from the viewpoint of the indigenous population in Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. A survey on ecotourism's socioeconomic impact involved 180 respondents across ten high-potential communities. Reliability was ensured using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Varimax rotation clarified key findings: strong support (loading factor: .990) for population increase. Concerns included rising standard of living (loading factor: .776) and seasonal employment (loading factor: .819). Consensus (loading factor: .962) favored environmental conservation and community-based business opportunities. It also recommends robust policies, infrastructure investments, targeted marketing, community engagement, visitor facilitation, and hospitality among locals to promote tourist return visits.

Pollution-free rivers with protected riverbanks offer considerable scope for tourism development. In recent decades there has been increasing interest in rivers as a tourism resource. Globally, the demand for river cruising and water sports has grown rapidly as has the development of riverbanks for tourism purposes including accommodation, restaurants, and shopping. However, the role of local communities attitudes and perceptions in the development of river tourism is crucial to developing a successful tourism resource. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of local residents regarding the development of river tourism on the Petagas River, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. Face-to-face semi-structured interviews were undertaken with 79 residents of river communities to explore their perceptions of river tourism development on the Petagas River, assess their views on their likely participation in river tourism, and identify problems they thought might inhibit tourism development. The results show that while respondents were generally supportive of tourism development, they did recognise the need for river ecosystem restoration and the need to change many of the ways they currently use the river.

Tourism is recognized as one of the world’s most significant cultural and economic forces and an essential strategy for enhancing local communities. The Phong Dien tourist village, for example, has experienced tremendous development in serving tourism activities for domestic and international tourists. However, despite the rapid growth in this industry, their benefits also have been affected. Therefore, a study on the Phong Dien tourist village, Vietnam, was conducted to explore and identify factors that affected the usefulness of households that participated in tourism activities. A household survey based on stratified random sampling was conducted in Phong Dien, and 125 questionnaires were completed. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and linear regression analysis were carried out to identify the factors that influenced the advantages of households engaging in tourism-related activities in the Phong Dien tourist village. Findings from the data analysis identified three factors that represented 66.5% of the explained variance extracted from 23 variables: (1) natural environment, (2) government support, (3) social environment, and (4) household participation. Finally, we suggest some solutions to enhance the households’ benefits.
