Anglicisms, words borrowed from the English language, which do not have to be of English origin, are observed in the Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, attitudes towards the English language by a certain group of native Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian speakers were observed. The research includes insights into the adaptation of anglicisms as an important point in borrowing into an inflective language. The research observes the attitudes towards the usage of anglicisms in the Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language and each of them separately. Additionally, attitudes towards the English language, familiarity with anglicisms and proper use of the observed anglicisms has been included in the research. The familiarity with anglicisms is observed through the understanding of the meaning and their proper usage. The participants are random native speakers of the Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language who belong to the Internet Technology (IT) field profession and are based in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The results show that both the attitude towards anglicisms and the English language are vastly positive, although a total of 44% of the observed anglicisms are translated. The positive attitude towards anglicisms implies their frequent use, mainly adapted to the different systems of the Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language. The usage is reflected in the two possibilities: English words used in their original form or adapted on different levels. In addition, as the need for it appeared along, the adaptation was also observed. The original or an adapted form and how far the adaptation goes in the system of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language (phonology and morphology) The research also displays the advisability and growing need for anglicisms in this field and confirms the significance of those words in the Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language. The findings imply that there is probably another parameter or parameter (variable(s) influencing the attitude, which could easily be the trend and the global reputation of the English language.

This study explored the factors affecting higher secondary school students’ attitudes toward learning English as a second language in southern Bhutan. The study intended to investigate factors affecting the attitudes of Bhutanese secondary students towards learning English as the researcher could not locate any studies done by Bhutanese in Bhutan. The study is conducted to identify the factors that influence the attitudes of secondary school students toward English learning and their performance in English. The study employed the convergent parallel mixed-methods design guided by a pragmatic paradigm. The quantitative data consists of randomly administered questionnaires to 302 students from class IX to XII. The qualitative data was collected through focus group students and semi-structured interview teachers. The study employed simple descriptive and inferential statistical analysis for quantitative data and thematic analysis (Braun & Clark, 2018) for qualitative analysis. The findings indicated that secondary school students possess both positive and negative attitudes toward learning English as a second language. Further, the finding indicated that educational factors such as the classroom environment and classroom teaching-learning strategies are found to have influences on students' attitudes towards learning English. The finding also revealed that the authentic and appropriate textbooks and the use of interesting varieties of teaching-learning materials by teachers affect the attitudes of students towards learning English. The home and community environment such as parental support and the opportunities to speak English in the community are also found to have an impact on student's attitudes toward learning English. The finding implies that a positive attitude towards the English language enhances language learning and negative attitude detriments the learning process. The study recommends the school and the teachers create a comfortable and conducive classroom environment and implement appropriate teaching-learning strategies and materials to enhance the positive attitude of students toward learning English as a second language. The study also recommends parents and the community support and encourage the use of English to enhance students' positive attitudes toward learning English.

Learning English in class X Alam-1 SMA Negeri 3 Atambua specifically on the subject of reading, less attractive to students. As many as 20 students in the class generally did not dare to read the text, mispronounced words, were not fluent in reading and had low ability in translating texts. Responding to this problem, learning improvements are carried out through Recound text. The method used is Classroom Action Research through 2 cycles. In cycle 1, students are given reading texts related to Natural Sciences and each student takes turns reading the text for each paragraph. In cycle 2, students are given reading texts in the form of the History of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence. The students were given the opportunity to sit in groups and then given the choice to read the text in front of the class or in their seats to create a fun learning atmosphere. Instruments for collecting research data using an assessment format that contains indicators and scores. The results showed that in cycle 1, the learning atmosphere was stiff and many students did not dare to read the text, misrepresented the words and did not translate the contents of the reading properly. Of the 20 students, 6% of students were categorized as very good, 9% good, 17% sufficient, 54% less, 9% low and 5% very low. In cycle 2, the results obtained were: 29% categorized very well, 29% good, 20% sufficient. For less, low and very low categories, there was a decrease in the number of students. Qualitatively, in cycle 2 the students did not feel awkward, afraid, or embarrassed. It was concluded that learning using recount text can improve the classroom atmosphere and improve student learning outcomes.
