Attitude of medical high school students to the problem of the reproductive health protection

Abstract

At the present stage in Russia there is a decrease in fertility rates, which is associated with various medical and social factors. The widespread prevalence of abortions in our country, the high frequency of unsafe methods of artificial termination of pregnancy (surgical abortion), poor awareness of young people about the results of abortions, modern methods of contraception, a large number of new cases of HIV infection, as well as an increase in somatic and reproductive morbidity, have a negative effect. Medical students are at risk of fertility decline due to the influence of additional negative factors: stress, physical inactivity, lack of adequate nutrition, intellectual stress. The anonymous survey of 550 students of I-VI courses was conducted. The questionnaire contained questions on the contraceptive behavior of students, awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of modern methods of preventing an unplanned pregnancy, the structure of gynecological morbidity, as well as a block of questions devoted to sexually transmitted infections. As the result of research, it was revealed that the students of medical university are poorly informed about reproductive health and use ineffective and unreliable methods of contraception. In combination with the widespread gynecological diseases in girls, as well as the lack of preventive measures of gynecological pathologies a decrease in the reproductive potential and fertility of the young generation can be expected.
