“…This high loading, also found by Brikell et al ( 2020 ), warrants further investigation. It is consistent with both theory and scientific evidence suggesting that attention is a key transdiagnostic correlate that is relevant to a range of psychopathology symptoms (Aitken & Andrade, 2021 ; King et al, 2013 ; Racer & Dishion, 2012 ). In response to the attention loading being so high, we completed a secondary analysis where we dropped the attention/hyperactivity measures from the p factor to ensure that the correlation between PS and the p factor was not solely due to these measures.…”

“…'Restlessness' has emerged as a significant symptom, playing a pivotal role in connecting with research findings during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic that emphasised the impact of psychomotor symptoms on the risk of depression and anxiety. [18][19][20][21] This study adds to the existing literature by recognising 'sad mood' as a crucial factor that triggers other symptoms in the depressionanxiety network, [22][23][24][25] reaffirming its established importance in diagnosing major depression according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and its potential use as an indicator for the onset or recurrence of depressive episodes.…”

“…In addition, we found a significant negative correlation between restlessness and employment stress and a significant positive correlation between restlessness and the impact of the pandemic on graduation theses. Restlessness is considered to be associated with attention problems ( Aitken and Andrade, 2021 ) suggesting that prospective graduates experiencing restlessness may struggle to concentrate on stress of employment, but the actual constant effect of their graduation theses would not be disturbed and make them anxious. Furthermore, guilty, in addition to its association with employment stress, is linked to the pandemic’s impact on employment, consistent with our explanation above.…”
