“…Previous studies drawing on color‐coded tissue Doppler echocardiography in patients with ASDs evaluated the atrial functions only in a single segment of the atrial walls . Two‐dimensional speckle‐tracking echocardiography has been used for the evaluation of the atrial functions in some congenital heart diseases such as pulmonary atresia, ASDs, coarctation of the aorta, and tetralogy of Fallot . There is a dearth of data in the current literature on the comparison of the atrial functions between surgical and percutaneous device ASD closure at follow‐up durations of longer than 1 year.…”

“…Others have evaluated echocardiographic parameters of the right ventricle and their agreement with volumes and function estimated by MRI . There is an increasing interest in functional assessment including strain imaging that may add complimentary information and reveal subclinical disease.…”

“…Echocardiographic findings may help decide which patients would require MRI . Echocardiographic analysis of atrial and ventricular function may provide additive information . There are no specific pediatric guidelines for PR classification, and there is no consensus regarding management of children with PR .…”

“…The following parameters of RV deformation were then derived: global longitudinal systolic strain and strain rate, and early and late diastolic strain rates. We have previously reported high reproducibility using speckle tracking echocardiography for measurements of RA and RV strain and strain rates.…”

“…On the other hand, the pathophysiologic significance of right atrial (RA) dysfunction is less clear. Nevertheless, RA size and function have been related to RV diastolic function . Hence, abnormal ventricular substrate for RA dysfunction may exist in patients after biventricular repair of PAIVS and PS.…”
