Asynchronous Physical-Layer Network Coding With Quasi-Cyclic Codes

Abstract: Communication in the presence of bounded timing asynchronism which is known to the receiver but cannot be easily compensated is studied. Examples of such situations include point-to-point communication over inter-symbol interference (ISI) channels and asynchronous wireless networks. In these scenarios, although the receiver may know all the delays, it is often not be an easy task for the receiver to compensate the delays as the signals are mixed together. A novel framework called interleave/deinterleave transf… Show more

“…Here, the RRC pulse passes through the sinc(2t) filter which remains to be an RRC pulse 7 . 6 We assume RRC pulse is limited in [−dT, dT ], so that each symbol would only affect the adjacent 2d + 1 symbols. 7 We remove sinc(2t) here because p (t) * sinc(2t) ≈ p (t).…”

“…Such synchronizations can be achieved by leveraging some recent work on coherent transmission (see, e.g., [52]). In addition, the requirement of block-level synchronization can be partly relaxed by using the technique developed in [53]. Finally, channel estimation is another important step of implementing SCF.…”

“…In [5], a blind computing scheme is introduced that, as opposed to other referred works, requires no CSI at the relays, at the cost of being sub-optimal. In [15], a computing scheme is designed to address the timing asynchronism in CMF methods. The multi-input multi-output (MIMO) detection scheme suggested in [6], called integer-forcing linear receiver (IFLR), simultaneously recovers multiple ECVs and can be employed as a computing scheme by a multi-antenna relay.…”
