Asymmetry of Critical Exponents inYBa2Cu3O7−<

Abstract: The critical behavior of YBa 2 Cu 3 O 72d close to the zero field superconducting critical point (T c 92 K) was investigated using a high precision, high resolution microcalorimeter and detwinned single crystals with mg mass. A detailed analysis of the specific heat reveals a pronounced asymmetry of the critical exponent a above and below T c : a 1 0.5 6 0.2, a 2 20.2 6 0.3, which does not heal for different choices of the critical temperature T c or the phonon background C p , and persists in the overdoped re… Show more

“…[12]. For this reason, deviations from 3D-XY critical behavior around T P do not signal the failure of 3D-XY universality, as previously claimed [12], but reflect a mere finite size effect at work. Indeed, from Fig.…”

“…A finite size scaling analysis [14] reveals inhomogeneities with a characteristic length scale ranging from 300 to 400Å, in the YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7−δ samples YBCO3, UBC2 and UBC1 of Ref. [12]. For this reason, deviations from 3D-XY critical behavior around T P do not signal the failure of 3D-XY universality, as previously claimed [12], but reflect a mere finite size effect at work.…”
